No craft fair for me

Well the craft fair is off....someone beat me to it:(  They only allow one booth for each kids of things, so only one cupcake booth.  I'll try again next year.

An exciting few weeks:)

There will be a whole lotta baking going on for the next few weeks!!

This Sunday is cupcake weekend at my church so that is 100 cupcakes there:)  My oldest niece and I talked about what she wanted for her birthday because she doesn't really like cupcakes.  She has never tried my cupcakes so I was suggesting all these flavors that she might like.  She decided that she wants to have a few cupcakes of a bunch of flavors:)  Well since I can't just make two or three cupcakes per flavor, I'd have to make a whole batch, I got to thinking about the craft fair that my Mom's school is holding.  So to make a long story short I am making two dozen of at least 8 flavors and possibly two more for the craft fair (I'll stash away 2-4 of each flavor for my niece's birthday the next weekend:) )  So hopefully I'll have lots of recipes to share and of course lots of pictures:)

On the menu for Life Teen:
Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes decorated with whipped cream and chocolate cat (from What's New Cupcake)
Apple Cider Doughnut Cupcakes decorated with a lolly pop fondant ghost
Caramel Apple Cupcakes decorated as caramel apples (using an idea from What's New Cupcake)
Chi Tea Cupcakes decorated with the "pick your poison" idea can't remember where

Craft Fair and Birthday Party menu:

Pumpkin Pie
Tres Leches
Caramel Apple decorated as caramel Apples
Chi tea decorated with roses and possibly as a scare crow from What's New Cupcake
Key Lime Pie
Lemon decorated with eggs from What's New Cupcake
Royal Dark Chocolate Truffle with edible crown
Root Beer Float

Can't wait to share how it all goes!!

October 2010 cupcakes-the plan

My plan for the October cupcakes:

Pumpkin Pie cupcakes decorated as pumpkins or perhaps Jack-O-Lanturns
Chi Tea Cupcakes decorated with a skeleton hand sticking out of the "grass"  perhaps holding a sign
Apple cider cupcakes with a lolly pop fondant ghost
Caramel Apple cupcakes decorated as caramel apples, with and without mini candies.

Can't wait to share these with you!

Notes to self...
Delete your first chi tea recipe....too much sugar makes it fall in the center, while yummy, they look horrid.  The second recipe is the one to go with...tastes great and LOOKS great too.

When making Dark Chocolate Truffle cupcakes....use only the bitter sweet chocolate for the truffle filling and you can go 1 bar 100% cacao and 1 bar bitter sweet to simulate real truffles.

Take the time to mess with the boiled frosting recipe to see if you can come up with a recipe that is less sweet and won't separate...as in less sugar and less butter.
